On Intuition, Initiation & Letting The Land Lead

Entangled With The Living World reflects on what it means to “listen to the land”, drawing from Indigenous knowledge that sees the land as alive and guiding human stewardship.  From Indigenous Traditional Ecological Knowledge, comes the view that land is alive, has agency, and can guide humans if we allow it. ceremonial practices, plant-based teachings, and new scientific findings on plant intelligence all point to a deeper communication between humans and the natural world. These perspectives suggest that much of human knowledge may have arisen through an entanglement with the natural world, and that much ancestral knowledge came from this reciprocal relationship with nature. Can science expand to include these intuitive ways of knowing, and how might humans relearn to listen and participate as a keystone species in maintaining ecological balance? Read more …
